15 years of photography, distilled into one practical guide.
Learn the process I use to turn a scene into a photograph — from deciding what matters, to composition, light, storytelling and the final edit.
Six steps to stronger, more intentional photographs.
From vision and composition to light, storytelling, editing and developing your own visual direction. Follow the six-week structure week by week, or move through it entirely at your own pace.
Notice what matters
Slow down before pressing the shutter. Learn to recognise what caught your attention, decide what the photograph is really about and simplify everything around it.
Compose with purpose
Learn seven practical composition techniques and how to combine them to guide the viewer's eye, create depth and give the subject a stronger place within the frame.
Chase the light
Understand how timing, direction and quality of light can completely change the same scene — and learn to make better decisions about when and where to shoot.
Storytelling
Move beyond the single hero shot. Learn to combine wide, medium and detail photographs to tell a fuller visual story of a place, journey or experience.
Edit with intention
Follow a repeatable workflow from RAW to final and learn how framing, global adjustments, colour and masking can strengthen an image without overusing it.
Find your visual voice
Identify the patterns already present in the photographs you love and use them to develop a visual direction that feels recognisably yours — without locking yourself into a formula.
For photographers who want their photographs to match what they saw in the moment.
You enjoy travel, landscape or outdoor photography and want your images to feel more intentional.
You can see that a scene looks good, but sometimes struggle to turn what you see into a photograph that feels as strong.
You want practical guidance on composition, light, storytelling and editing without unnecessary complexity.
The guide I wish I had when I started.
I'm Anders, a photographer and filmmaker from Norway. I've been taking photographs for around 15 years. The Intentional Photographer brings together the approach I use in my own work — clearer choices around subject, composition, light, storytelling and editing.
FAQ
What's inside?
The 76-page guide starts with a quick intro to camera settings, then takes you through six practical sections covering how to notice stronger photographs, composition, light, storytelling, editing and developing your own visual voice.
Along the way you'll find real photography examples, seven composition techniques, a repeatable five-step editing workflow, six Lightroom masking examples, weekly challenges and reflections, a full RAW-to-final edit breakdown and a practical cheat sheet for both capturing and editing.
What skill level is it for?
It’s not designed as a complete introduction to photography, but you don’t need to be advanced either. If you understand the basic controls of your camera and want to become more intentional with composition, light, storytelling and editing, you’ll be in the right place.
Do I need expensive gear?
No. The core lessons focus on seeing, decision-making, composition, light, storytelling and editing rather than owning a specific camera or lens.
Do I need Lightroom?
No. Lightroom is used for the editing examples, but the underlying editing principles can be applied in other editing software.
Is this a physical book or a digital guide?
It’s a digital PDF, not a physical book. You can keep it on your phone, tablet or computer, or print it out if you prefer working through it on paper.
How do I access the guide after purchasing?
You can download the guide immediately from the order confirmation page. You’ll also receive an email with a download link, so you can easily access it again later. If you don’t see the email within a few minutes, check your spam or promotions folder.
Do I have to follow the six weeks week by week?
No. The six-week structure gives you a clear progression, but the guide is completely self-paced. Follow it week by week or move through the sections in the way that suits you.
